dear diary...
... sounds kiddish. But why not call it a blog? I used to blog, a long, long time ago. But I also used to write in a journal or in diaries. So why not dear diary?
Also, one thing about a journey is that you need a story. So a story with written words and pictures for reference would help, wouldn't it?
Anyways... Dear diary,
I recently found a list, Why No One Likes Your Art, and its 26 reasons why I have yet to actually sell anything.
(Is this something I should be saying on the web? To potential clients? I'm a millennium, I'll do what I want. /sarcasm)
I went through this list a few times and wasn't sure if I was really within this category or not. I think I have a style. I think I have a target audience. I think it's fashionable.... etc. Well, to help me discover IF in fact no one likes my art, I will be challenging myself to a 26 day drawing challenge to PROVE this list (and myself) that my art does not suck and that people actually like it.
And for today's challenge:
1. It’s not refined yet
You simply haven’t got to a stage where your style and presentation of the work you do is honed and refined. This means you reach a point where your work possesses a level of clarity and is distinctly your own. This takes time and practice, but people will notice when you get there.
Today's drawing!
Inktober was really fun this year and was also the most drawings I've ever done for Inktober. And with a little experimentation, I found this "style" that I feel is a mixture of me all up in it (but what's wrong with having a small variety of styles?). And I figured if I could repeat this style even after Inktober was over, then maybe I do have a style of my own and it wasn't a fluke. Take that, list! Oh shit, it's only Day 1.
Can't wait to see where this list takes me.

P.S.
I understand my approach may be a little vulnerable, a little naive, maybe a little silly, but that's all a part of the journey, right? I'm not some big, suited professional, I am an artist and artists express. What a silly time to be a millennium artist. :P
