So damn basic

When you think you know everything and you hit that one bump where you realize, ya don't know a goddamn thing. I imagine this being said in an old person voice, finger wagging and all.

I'm not confident with color much, I took a few classes but now it doesn't seem like those were enough. You would think this it's easy, right? I will tell you now, it's not. Trying to mix the right skintone color, I would imagine, is as hard as mixing chemicals to make drugs. It's a shit ton of colors, including colors you wouldn't think of (blue?! Who woulda thunk it), all mixed together in hopes of not making one look sickly.

So here's today's challenge...

4. You don’t understand light/colour balance and composition

Art, especially the visual stuff, requires some grasp of colour, light and layout. In writing, the equivalent would be along the lines of pacing and sentence structure. These compositional ‘rules’ apply to all other forms of creative work.

Make sure you ‘get’ these basics before expecting people to like what it is you do.

And the first and very early start to not feeling very confident with what I've created.

I will tell you now, I was not trying to mix a skintone color and happened to come up with pink. My intention was something totally different than what has happened here. It could be because I don't understand the use of color or just the materials with the sketchbook paper (very bad mix to begin with). I was going for light pink, something soft but still summery but instead I rolled with my accident and came up with this.

Eh. I think the list got me this time.

I'll get you next time >:]

P.S. As mentioned in the last post, I'm not comfortable doing portraits of other people. This is supposed to be AJ Michalka and I think I could've done better.
